Brunette, Blonde, Red, Silver, I’ve had every shade of hair color. My favorite is Purple Hair. I turned gray pretty early, in my 30’s, and I give all credit to my grandmother Daisy. For years I colored my hair to hide the gray because I didn’t want to look old, and I didn’t want my kids to think their Mom was old either. When my oldest son graduated from high school and went out of state to college, his needs were a little more pressing than my vanity. I went totally gray, and I was proud of it. Those silver stands were earned. My husband liked it and so did I. I even would occasionally get a comment about my cute haircut. But not about the color of my hair.
I realize fun colors are a ‘thing’ now but I never figured it would be something I would do. But when I saw an 80 plus year old woman with bright white hair sporting royal blue and black right in the front, I thought what the heck?
I had finally reached an age where I didn’t care what other people thought about me. If you like me, you like me. Don’t like me, that’s fine too! Smeone doesn’t like what I’m wearing or the color of my hair, should I let their opinions affect what makes me happy? I think NOT! So I went for it and had the purple put in. I Love it! My husband loves it. My kids are used to it!!! And the funny thing is how many other people love it. No matter where I go someone always compliments me on my hair. I’m even in the cool colored hair club now. We’re kinda like those motorcycle riders who give each other a little down low wave when they pass on the highway, except we just exclaim “I Love your hair!”
