Being part of a LuLaRoe photoshoot was never on my radar, I was thrilled when LLR regrammed one of my Insta pics! But when I got an email from LuLaRoe Casting with this ‘The team loves your look and would love to have you come out for one of our upcoming photoshoots!’ how could I pass that up? From the time I got the first email to the start of the actual photoshoot was a month, not long enough to lose 10 pounds! I flew out of the Dallas Ft Worth airport to Salt Lake City where I met up with the photoshoot crew and 5 other retailer models. We all piled into vans and traveled to a privately owned ranch in Wyoming about 3 hours away.
The first night was exciting, we all ate dinner together and got to know each other. The team was busy setting up everything for the next day since all photos were being taken in one day. After dinner and a little peaking at the outfits we headed to our hotel . Each of us had our own room with a self imposed early bedtime. We were instructed to not put any makeup on the next morning as we would be having professional makeup done.
The next morning came early and we were all waiting in the lobby for pickup to travel back to the ranch. On arrival we were told who needed makeup and hair first depending on which “look” you were in. I was in the first shot and got hair and makeup done quickly. The makeup artists and hair stylist were amazing and so willing to do any touch ups thru the day. I was part of the winter photo shoot done the last week in November so it was COLD outside. The crew took great care of us and had extra coats and Hot Hands for us to hold while we were waiting our turn.
Props and Backdrops
Ranch horses were even used in the shoot, probably my favorite part since I love horses. About 4 “looks” were shot in the morning and then we had a quick break for lunch. Afterwards several models, photo and video crew and driver loaded up to go to a different part of the ranch on a hilltop. Seeing the whole of Star Valley spread out before us was amazing and the pictures turned out beautifully. Wyoming has the most gorgeous scenery. The crew really wanted to get pictures in the snow but we had to drive up into the mountains to find it. LuLaRoe is known for bright colors and vivid patterns so it made for breathtaking pictures against the snowy mountain backdrops. We were able to get all of the “looks” done before the light was lost and then headed back to the ranch.
Everyone gathered together for dinner that was brought in from a local Italian restaurant. The ranch lodge was beautifully decorated and the centerpiece was a large stone fireplace that reached to cathedral ceilings. A fire was built and we all sat around decompressing from the day and chatting., then back to the hotel with instructions on what time to be ready the next morning to drive back to SLC.
When our ride got to the hotel that morning to pick the 6 of us, we had the LLR social media guru as our driver. He had been with us the entire trip going live on FB and posting to Instagram and stories too. We had a 3 hour ride back to SLC. All of us picked up a few tips to help us with our social media game. After stopping for lunch and hiding some LLR goodies for some lucky people to find we then headed on to the airport. I flew back into DFW that night. It was a whirlwind 3 days.
We were told it would be about a month before we saw the images from the shoot. It was actually a little bit longer, probably due to the Christmas holidays. I friended all of the models on FB and Instagram. Every couple of days we were messaging each other to check if the pics were up yet. Oh Happy Day when they were finally live on the back office. Messages flew back and forth between the 6 of us. The pictures were beyond gorgeous. Every retailer in the company has access to them, and can use them. My pictures are everywhere now and I’m still being tagged in them months later.
Friends and Memories
I may never do another professional photoshoot again. Certainly I would if asked because it was a blast! If it doesn’t happen I’ll have some great memories, some great new friends, and the photographic evidence to prove it.
